we Emily Bronte (30/07/1818 - 19/12/1848) ~ Naija Poets
Emily Bronte was an English poet and novelist; the author of Wuthering Heights.
I never knew Emily among poets until Daniel Aribido gave me her novel: "Wuthering Heights" as a gift. Ever since, her poem has been a motivation to me.

EMILY BRONTE'S POEM:

"Riches I hold in light esteem
And Love I laught to scorn,
And Lust of Fame was but a dream
That vanished with the morn--

And if I pray-- the only prayer
That moves my lips for me
Is-- 'Leave the heart that now I bear
And give me liberty.'

Yes, as my swift days near their goal
'Tis all that I implore--
Through life and death, a chainless soul
With courage to endure!"
