we Act to Act Summary of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare ~ Naija Poets

Act 1, Scene 1: Egeus reported Hermia's to Theseus for refusing to marry Demetrius. She is in love with Lysander. While Theseus gave her few days to choose between marrying Demetrius (her father's choice) or face the punishment of being condemned to eternal celibacy, Lysander and Hermia plan to elope.
In the morning, Theseus and Hippolyta entered and Demetrius, Lysander, Hermia and Helena lying together. They were woken by the blowing of the horns; Denetrius peppers his love for Helena instead of Hermia. They all decided to go get married at Athens where Duke Theseus and Hippolyta were to hold their wedding ceremony.

Act 1, Scene 2: At Peter Quince house, amateur actors (Quince, Bottom, Flute, Snout, Snug and Starveling) are planning to perform "Pyramus and Thisby" at Duke Theseus wedding.

Act 2, Scene 1: The fairies are in the palace wood (Oberon and Titania) arguing over the possession of the Indian Boy. Puck was instructed by Oberon to obtain love-in-idle plant to bewitch Titania so when she wakes she will fall in love any living creature she sees. While in the wood, Oberon witnessed how Demetrius repelled Helena despite her love for him so in order to help her win Demetrius' love, Oberon asked Puck to use part of the bewitchment charm on Demetrius while asleep.Act 2, Scene 2: Queen Titania sings fairy songs and slept; Oberon charmed her. Puck got to where Lysander and Hermia slept and mistook him for Demetrius, so he used the charm on him. Lysander woke and the first person he saw was Helena and fell in love with her.

Act 3, Scene 1: The amateur actors were rehearsing in the palace wood where Titania was sleeping. Puck watching the rehearsal, disliked Bottom's performance so he changed his face to that of an Ass; the other actors saw his face and fled and their nose woke Titania and she fell in love with Bottom.

Act 3, Scene 2: Demetrius and Lysander are in love with Helena which led to fight over the matter. Meanwhile Hermia and Helena were not in good terms as well. At night, when both men slept Puck corrected his mistake by removing the love spell he placed on Lysander.

Act 4, Scene 1: Bottom and Titania were sleeping beside each other, Oberon woke Titania and she got back to her normal self and began repelling Bottom. Oberon ordered Puck to restore Bottom to his normal self. Oberon and Titania reconciled.

Act 4, Scene 2: Bottom joined the other actors at Peter Quince's house. They decided to go on with the plan of performing at Duke's wedding.

Act 5, Scene 1: The wedding was done and the actors performed excellent.
