President is vested with power of the state in the Presidential system of government. The presidential system is characterized with the rule of law, supremacy of the constitution, judicial review and interpretation, limited term of rule, checks and balances, executive power is performed by the president, president and his ministers are not members of the parliament.

· The president approves the formation and execution of foreign policies in a presidential system of government
· The President is both the head of state and head of government
· The President is the commander in chief of the armed forces
· The President bestows or awards national honours to deserving citizens
· The President appoints the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
· The President assents to bills
· The President approves the appointment of Ambassadors and others
· The President has the right to declare a state of emergency when the need arises.
· The President prepares and presents the annual budget to the national assembly
· The President appoints ministers and other members of the cabinet
· The President has the constitutional right to grant pardon
· The President receives the representatives of other countries to his country
